The Produce Prescription Intern will spend 100-120 hours working with the Food as Medicine Team to develop, implement, grow, and evaluate the program to bring healthy, local food to patients. The student will work with staff, healthcare providers, patients, vendors, and community partners to expand access to fresh fruits and vegetables for members of the community through Produce Prescription.
Responsibilities:
1) Support enrollment fairs in collaboration with healthcare providers and relevant community partners.
2) Assist healthcare providers with program implementation, including distributing materials, providing regular updates, and entering patient survey data as needed.
3) Partner with the Food as Medicine Coordinator to develop and distribute educational materials.
4) Research best practices and patient-centered approaches to Produce Prescription (PRx) program implementation and evaluation; compile findings in an annotated bibliography for use in future grant applications, as permitted.
5) Contribute to the development and scheduling of a content calendar for the 2025–2026 PRx season.
6) Explore and support the integration of video-based educational content.
7) Manage and coordinate social media posts across multiple platforms to promote PRx messaging, programs, and services.
8) Stay informed on and incorporate relevant social media trends—such as filters, blogs, podcasts, video, audio, and hashtags—into content strategy.
9) Provide support on additional marketing tasks and projects as needed.
10) Assist with administrative and clerical responsibilities related to the PRx program.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficient with social media platforms and posts including but not limited to Facebook and Instagram etc
- Preferred experience with Canva, basic knowledge of editing and creating video, audio posts
- Self-motivated and able to work productively independently
- Willing and able to work collaboratively as a team with the PRx staff
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Familiar with health and wellness and interested in its promotion
- Knowledge of Food Security and Social Determinants of Health
